Farewell And Kudos

I finished Game Of Thrones last week. Can we please talk about the Red Wedding? I’ll stop there because it was too much for me to handle!

This weekend has been non-stop, I’m happy I finally have a chance to just relax and do nothing all day. In fact, I just woke up from a nap that gave me a migraine; perhaps, this was a trade off for trying to sleep during the day. Silly me.

My roommate and friend of over two years is leaving San Francisco next week to start law school in DC. Saying all of us will miss him will be an understatement. To celebrate, we threw him a farewell party at the Cigar Bar and Grill in the Financial District. I didn’t feel like bringing the old ball and chain (my camera), which I immediately regretted. It would of been awesome to be able to document our night, especially our cool private room that had a pool table just for us. Instead, my memories were left with a few iPhone pictures.

The only one that didn’t become an Instagram video or embarrassingly blurry and dark was one of my two friends and I.

Yep, I have gorgeous friends!

We stayed until the late hours of the night and a few cigars might of been rotated between everyone. They don’t call it the cigar bar for nothing.

Saturday, after an early and long day of work, Chi and I drove out to Los Gatos, CA to meet everyone to celebrate our friend D completing her masters!

There were close to 100 people in attendance! To feed all these people, they hired a taco guy to help out with the hungry stomachs.

I got there around three, and had not ate the whole day, so he was the first guy I paid a trip to when we got there. I ordered two tacos and a side salad to pull me over until dinner time. I’m so spoiled by Toma tacos, because these bad boys just weren’t cutting it for me.

The girls and boys split up. When we were walking to get something from the car, we came across a gaggle of geese blocking our road. It was a pretty intense few minutes as we figured out a way to maneuver the animals to get to the other side. We have heard rumors that these geese were really vicious and would not hesitate to chase you if you came to close to the babies. Let’s give thanks that I made it out alive from that situation.

On our way back to the area, we found all the boys playing horseshoe. Chi looks like a professional, no? Look at that angle and look of determination. He ended up winning by one point, sorry Abs!

Brenda, from Bravo Image, took a group picture of our little group. Our graduate, D, is the beauty in the green dress.

It also felt nice to see so many familiar faces!

On our way to her grandma’s house to hang by the pool, Chi pulled over so fast and scared me. I asked him what the hell he was doing and he pointed to this sign.

There are no DQs in/near San Francisco and both of us never tried it before. I actually walked in with no expectations and was surprised by the vastness of their menu. We asked the cashier what to get and she basically made us get a Blizzard.

I’m not a fan of those kind of drinks, but Chi finished it before we even got to our destination.

Sunday, I spent the morning volunteering and came home to watch American Psycho. I think I confused it with plain ol’ Psycho, because it was not exactly what I expected. The weather dropped from 80s to low 50s in less then 24 hours. It even started sprinkling at some point during the day.

My work schedule is also a lot lighter this week, so I think I’ll have plenty of time to cook.

Some ideas for the week-

  • Flatbread Pizza
  • Caprese Salad
  • Veggie and Hummus Sandwich
  • Chorizo Lentil Soup (recipe coming Wed!)

Of course, sprinkle a few snacks in between. I have been obsessed with my garlic parmesan dip with Social Snackers from TJs!

What’s on your agenda this week? Do you prefer warmer or cooler days?

  1. Sounds like a super busy but also super great weekend! I hope you get some good relaxation time now. ๐Ÿ™‚
Garlic parmesan dip?! TJs, you’re killing me from not being near. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Yikes, let’s sign a petition to get TJs closer to you! I couldn’t imagine having one not close enough to drive 10 minutes to.

  2. hahahaha your inaugural Dairy Queen! Yes, Blizzards are kind of their thing. Did you get the Oreo one? Oreo is the best ๐Ÿ˜‰

This looks like such a fun weekend with loved ones. Congratulations to your friends! It sounds like they’re doing amazing things ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. HOW HAVE YOU NEVER HAD DAIRY QUEEN. AND HOW DID YOU NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR BLIZZARD. If they were healthy, I swear I’d have one every day. (But they contain like 700 calories each, so that’s probs not the smartest idea.) On a more serious note, it looks like you had a fantastic weekend! It’s always a little sad saying bye to someone, but there’s so many ways to keep in touch now ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Bah! It was just so overwhelming. Maybe because my boyfriend probably got the worst flavor ever (banana cream pie!). I would of ordered an Oreo one! I might have to give it a second try. ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. What a fun weekend! I wish I had a camera – all of my pictures are cell phone quality and while they’ve improved over the years, they still aren’t worthy. Ah #firstworldproblems.
Such a cute and fun weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚ Blizzards are the best and so is Dairy Queen. I’ve never had actual food there but the ice cream is perfection. I prefer warmer days, key word, warmer – not blisteringly hot days! Have a great one! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Whenever I try to take a nap during the weekend, I wake up feeling worse than before. I guess the whole power nap idea isn’t for me!

Your weekend looks so busy and full of fun! You and your friends are gorgeous! I live in Texas, so we have DQ on every single corner, and I’m not the biggest fan. It’s average food, but nothing like the food you’ve posted!

  6. You and your friends are so pretty! Looks like you all had a fun weekend together. I’m shocked that you have never tried DQ, I guess they are more popular where I’m from.
The weather is pretty icky in East Bay today, as if the fact that it’s a Monday isn’t draining enough! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Is it raining over on your side of the bridge too? I’ve been so spoiled by the sun that I’m not use to the rain anymore!

  7. I recently got a DQ sundae when I had my wisdom teeth out. Nothing fancy, just vanilla soft serve and some strawberry sauce. Blizzards are definitely what they are known for though. And I like warmer days, but with a breeze. AKA I don’t want to sweat my buns off and freezing isn’t an option either ๐Ÿ™‚ You look beautiful at the cigar bar!

    • 100 degrees?! I’m so use to the fog and light days that I would be in the worst mood. Actually, I go to Vegas often and I’m not too bad there. As long as it’s a dry heat, I’m okay!

  8. Oh no, I DON’T want to talk about the Red Wedding, haha. WHAT a season! Can’t believe it’s over already. And oh man, if you don’t want your Blizzard, you can send it my way ๐Ÿ˜‰ Especially if it’s a Butterfinger blizzard!

    • I love chorizo! I just made my chorizo scramble this morning. Tomorrow I’ll be posting a chorizo lentil soup, come by to check it out!

  9. hahaha omg i havent had dairy queen in YEARS, so i havent had a blizzard in forever. there was something similar that TCBY served called the shiver when i was in high school and i used to eat those by the gallon. i swear i was addicted. im not a fan of whipped cream on desserts like this though, so maybe that’s partly to blame for your dislike ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It just seemed so fake and syrupy. Not for me! I prefer a creme brรปlรฉe or plain ol’ ice cream for dessert. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. What a fun weekend! I can’t believe you had never been to DQ before. What flavor blizzard did y’all have? Such a bummer you weren’t a fan though.. maybe it was just the kind she made?

& yes you & your friends are beautiful.

  11. I was in SUCH shock after the Red Wedding, I was wandering around the next day in a total daze. What a fab season, can’t wait for the next! Your meal plans sound great – I’m currently getting into healthy mode, partly because my body craves in, but also holiday time in 2 weeks, hooray ๐Ÿ™‚ !
